Enjoy Iceland Tours has been running private guided tours out of Reykjavík (Icelandic: Reykjavík) since 2016, formerly as Go to joy Iceland. We stopped doing shared coach tours a while back, since one vehicle and one group at a time was always the point. Traveling solo, as a couple, or with family or friends, the vehicle and the route are built around your own group.
From waterfalls along the south coast to the Golden Circle’s geothermal stops to a glacier walk, your driver-guide sets the pace based on what your group actually wants to see, not a fixed excursion schedule.

The Real Difference
Iceland has plenty of big tour operators running buses to the same handful of stops. A private tour with a family-owned company changes a few things.

Most first-time visitors base themselves in Reykjavík, and most of our private day tours are built around that: pickup from your hotel or apartment, a private vehicle for the day, and a drop-off back in the city when you’re done. That covers the Golden Circle, the South Coast, and Snæfellsnes comfortably as single-day trips.
If your trip extends further, up to Akureyri in North Iceland for example, that’s a longer drive, roughly 388 kilometers and five hours each way on Route 1 without stops. Akureyri private tours tend to work better as part of a multi-day itinerary than a single day out of Reykjavík.
Ice cave, volcano, or food tours come up often enough to mention, even where we don’t have a dedicated page yet. Get in touch and ask, and we’ll tell you plainly whether it’s something we can arrange for your dates.
It means one vehicle, one guide, and one group, yours. We don’t combine separate bookings into the same vehicle on any tour we run, from a single Golden Circle day trip to a multi-day itinerary.
It depends on the route and the day length, since private vehicles are priced per car or van rather than per person. Our prepared single-day tours already have fixed pricing published for every group size right on their own pages, so there’s no need to contact us for a standard quote. Multi-day and fully custom itineraries are priced individually, get in touch with your dates for those.
Most single-day private tours run from Reykjavík, since the main attractions sit within a few hours’ drive. Akureyri is about five hours each way, so a trip up there works best as part of a multi-day itinerary. Ask us when planning if that’s part of your route.
That depends on what you value in a guide and a company. We can speak to our own track record: family-owned since 2016, a 5.0 rating across more than 2,000 reviews, and the LUXlife Global Excellence Award in 2025. Beyond that, it’s worth comparing a few operators directly against what matters most to your trip.
These come up often enough to mention, though they’re not on our standard tour list yet. Get in touch with your dates and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can arrange something, since availability depends heavily on season and location.
